Released as the realities of the COVID-19 crisis began to settle in, New Threads' sixth studio album is their boldest yet. Two instrumental free jams recorded in late 2019 were repurposed for this quarantine-era LP, sparking controversy among fans and finalizing New Threads' transition from Tennessee punk quartet into Boston jazz rock trio. While 'Threadsboro' and 'Free Rock' saw ambitious moves in this direction with tracks like "Way Back Home" and "Pogo," other songs like "Clean" and "Bongo" helped remind listeners of the band's roots- something that is entirely absent on 'Buford.' Here, New Threads has gone full crazy- whether that is good news or bad news is up to you.
